Cuomo commutes 4 convicted murderers’ sentences in final hours as governor
The individuals all had second-degree murder convictions
It has always been my opinion; mayor – governors and the president should not have the authority to commute anyone’s sentence; unless there is overwhelming evidence the person was wrongly convicted.
What sense does it make to have a trial costing sometimes millions of dollars; months of legal wrangling that is mostly bullshit to convict someone hen all it takes is a few dollars and the swipe of the governors pen. Where is the justice for the families of the victims.
Among the sentences commuted was that of 68-year old Greg Mingo, who was convicted of four counts of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He has served over 39 years of a 50-year-to-life prison sentence. 39 years served is not long enough.
I have to bet that Horny Toad Cuomo is granting these releases as one last show of power and a big F-U before he gets his hat and walks out the back door in disgrace.
