Navy names new salvage and rescue ship in honor of Native American tribe
The Navy’s newest towing, salvage and rescue ship will be named to honor the history and service of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan.
The salvage and rescue ship (T-ATS 8) will be named Saginaw Ojibwe Anishinabek, Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer announced Friday.

Hellooooooo – to start with, I can’t even pronounce the name. Sound like the co-host of America Ninja Warriors.

It looks to me like he threw every letter in the alphabet in a hat, pulled letters out one and a time and made up a name for himself.
Back to the ship. Can we be sure that the Indians will not gt pissed off in a few years and demand the name be take off if the ship??
The list of school and sports teams that caved in and changed their Indian names are too numerous to list. This is just one example.

It used to be it was a compliment and an honor to have a school or team named after any other group of people. BUTTTT, with the advent of ridiculous PC-ness and smoking some bad stuff in their peace pipe, the Indians got on the anti-bandwagon.
If they are so sensitive about what is named after them, I would say the government should be careful of what they name their ship after. How about a good American hero that gave their life in battle fighting for this country. To me, that is more suitable and no on will complain about it. There are 10’s of 1,000’s of people that are deserving.
