9-year-old tourist from NYC shot, killed on spring break trip in Dominican Republic

Six men are under arrest in the Dominican Republic and charged in the deadly mugging

Vacation locations that used to be safe places where people could take their families on a nice vacation are no longer hospitable places to go. With all the criminal activity taking place South of the border and many other locations there is no way that I would risk my family’s safety to patronize one of these destinations.

The deadly incident happened after the family was leaving the rental car place. They noticed the car with five men in it following them (I will call them animals), Suspecting it was an attempted car theft, the father Sergio would not pull over. The animals in the car following them picked up speed, got next to the family’s rental car, and opened fire with automatic weapons, one round hitting the 9-year-old boy in the head.

Even more disturbing, one of the carjacking animals was a friend of Sergio’s, or possibly I should say, he knew him, leading me to believe that this carjacking was preplanned long before it happened. Who needs enemies when you have friends like that??

Places like Acapulco, Mexico, Kingston, Jamaica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and many others used to the place to go to get away and have a safe trip with the family. Not any more folks.

You take your life in your hands going to any one of these places. With all of the criminal activity taking over the world, it is very hard to find a safe destination, crimes mostly drug generated. In my opinion, there is no place like home. I’ve said this for many years, don’t go where you don’t belong.

This is just another small example of how mankind is destroying itself. The criminals in this area have no heart, no soul, no moral compass, and no conscience. They will blow your brains out, and in three seconds go eat 10 tacos and drink a half a gallon of tequila.

Put a couple steaks on the grill, play some Hawaiian music, kick back, and enjoy yourself in the safety of your own home. Don’t forget the Johnny Walker Blue.

My heart goes out to the family for the loss of their child. Cannot be anything worse than witnessing the death of one of your children by some homicidal maniac.
