Trump rips Macron after landing in France over ‘insulting’ call for European army

How soon they forget!! It seems that the French president has a short memory or never read any history books depicting the United States of America liberated the French from the Nazi in WW II.

Possibly Macron live by the rule; it is not what you did for me yesterday, what are you going to do for me tomorrow??

President Trump touched down in France on Friday and immediately took a shot at President Emmanuel Macron for his recent call for a “European army,” calling the idea “very insulting” and renewing pressure on the country to contribute more to NATO.

“President Macron of France has just suggested that Europe build its own military in order to protect itself from the U.S., China and Russia,” Trump tweeted. “Very insulting, but perhaps Europe should first pay its fair share of NATO, which the U.S. subsidizes greatly!”

It just so happens PDT is right.

In 2017, the U.S. accounted for 51.1 percent of NATO’s combined GDP and 71.7 percent of its combined defense expenditure. In short, the U.S. contributed more funds to NATO than Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Canada combined. Meanwhile, the U.S. spent $685.9 billion on defense.Jul 6, 2018

Now that PDT is putting his foot down and AXING all of the NATO members to pay their FAIR share, they seem to be insulted by the suggestion. They are like a few people I know that continually go to dinner with the same crowd, BUTT never offer to pick up the check. I call them free-loaders. In Italian they are called senza faccia.

If the French prez wants to consider the Russians and the Chinese threat to his country, he may have just cause for concern, BUTT to suggest the USA is a threat to France is nuts.

It is not surprising that Macron would come up with a recommendation like this. The French are notorious for their inconsistencies. What will they use for weapons, throw croissants filled with whipped cream at the enemy??

It may be a great idea Macron has, BUTT he must remember one very important thing. Once a critical decision like that is made there is no turning back. It is either all or nothing. 5 or 10 years down the road he can not say he made a mistake and wants to get in bed with the USA again or seek its help. This guy may be biting off a lot more croissant than he can chew.

In unity there is strength. To create a European Army and separate it from NATO would be a huge mistake. ORRRR, can this be just a pipe dream some foolish politician came up with. We all know how all politicians like to for a little attention.

I wonder which of the European countries will be the king-pin in the arrangement? For the most part, they can not agree on much of anything, let alone who is going to lead/be in charge of the New European Army.

Probably just a lot of banter coming from the french guy to piss off PDT. We all know he has a short fuse. Sometime good – sometime not so good.
