Hall of Famer Jim Brown says he’d ‘never kneel’ during anthem, ‘will always respect the flag’
Jim Brown was one of the all-time greats in the sport of football. He had his ups and downs in his private life, BUTT he always danced to his own tune. He was NEVER a puppet that let someone else pull his strings. Many times he had to pay the consequences for his steadfastness for what he believed in and some called him bull-headed and hard to get along with. I guess that is the label some people use to describe a person with character. Was he ever a character!!
He definitely has been a champion for civil rights as he should be, BUTT at the same time, he still is a true patriot; demonstrating that believing and practicing them both is possible.
Brown’s memorable professional career led to his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971. His football accomplishments at Syracuse garnered him a berth in the College Football Hall of Fame.
Jim Brown also earned a spot in the Lacrosse Hall of Fame, giving him a rare triple crown of sorts.
In 118 career games, Brown averaged 104.3 yards per game and 5.2 yards per carry; only Barry Sanders (99.8 yards per game and 5.0 yards per carry) comes close to these totals. For example, Hall of Famer Walter Payton averaged only 88 yards per game during his career with a 4.4 yards-per-carry average. Emmitt Smith averaged only 81.2 yards per game with a 4.2 yards-per-carry average. Brown has famously said on the subject: “When running backs get in a room together, they don’t argue about who is the best.”[This quote needs a citation]
The only top-10 all-time rusher who even approaches Brown’s totals, Barry Sanders, posted a career average of 99.8 yards per game and 5.0 yards per carry. However, Barry Sanders’ father, William, was frequently quoted as saying that Jim Brown was “the best I’ve ever seen.”
Brown currently holds NFL records for most games with 24 or more points in a career (6), highest career touchdowns per game average (1.068), most career games with three or more touchdowns (14), most games with four or more touchdowns in a career (6), most seasons leading the league in rushing attempts (6), most seasons leading league in rushing yards (8), highest career rushing yards-per-game average (104.3), most seasons leading the league in touchdowns (5), most seasons leading the league in yards from scrimmage (6), highest average yards from scrimmage per game in a career (125.52), and most seasons leading the league in combined net yards (5).

Putting aside some of his unlawful legal issues, he may have been a lot of things, BUTT we can always call Jim Brown a patriot.
In 1965, Brown was arrested in his hotel room for assault and battery against an 18-year-old named Brenda Ayres; he was later acquitted on the charges. A year later, he fought paternity allegations that he fathered Brenda Ayres’ child. In 1968, Brown was charged with assault with intent to commit murder after model Eva Bohn-Chin was found beneath the balcony of Brown’s second-floor apartment. The charges were later dismissed after Bohn-Chin refused to cooperate with the prosecutor’s office. Brown was also ordered to pay a $300 fine for striking a deputy sheriff involved in the investigation during the incident. In Brown’s autobiography, he stated that Bohn-Chin was angry and jealous over an affair he had been having with Gloria Steinem and this argument is what led to the “misunderstanding with the police.”
In 1970, Brown was found not guilty of assault and battery, the charges stemming from a road-rage incident that had occurred in 1969. In 1975, Brown was sentenced to one day in prison and two years probation, and to pay a fine of $500 for beating and choking his golfing partner Frank Snow. In 1985, Brown was charged with raping a 33-year-old woman. The charges were later dismissed. In 1986, Brown was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend Debra Clark. Clark refused to press charges, though, and Brown was released. In 1999, Brown was arrested and charged with making terrorist threats toward his wife. Later that year, he was found guilty of vandalism for smashing his wife’s car with a shovel. He was sentenced to three years’ probation, one year of domestic violence counseling, and 400 hours of community service or 40 hours on a work crew along with a $1,800 fine. Brown ignored the terms of his sentence, and in 2000 was sentenced to six months in jail for refusing the court-ordered counseling and community service. He was released after 3 months.
What is the true indicator of a man or women’s character, BUTT to stand-up and be recognized; going against the grain, their peers and the general conscience of unpopular subjects??
BUTT, always the BIG BUTT, if ANYONE is trying to make a valid point, it is a good idea to get their own house in order before criticizing someone else.
If there were not certain issues that existed in the black communities, like their part for out of control lawlessness in Chicago and other cities, I may see their point of view more compassion.
Do I acknowledge all of the injustices perpetrated on their race in the past? Only a fool would disagree with their brutal history of abuse. The past can not be changed, BUTT the conditions in the future are up to us.
Are the black people the only race that has had an ongoing explosion of crime?? No, BUTT they do it better than most others. We can not argue with the facts.
If situations like in The Windy City and other cities are not brought under control, where the hell is it going to end?? Naturally, the mayor and his crew of stooges never acknowledge their incompetence as the cause of the problem. True politician.
Who should we blame in part when the PC-ers/ACLU and other half-wit organizations in Chicago took away the cops authority to stop and search a suspicious person. I did a post on this subject the other day.
Should we be more concerned with being shook-down or crime prevention?? I hate to hear some answers. If I didn’t have anything to hide, what is the gripe?? Just like being checked at the airport. If the passenger is not concealing anything, what do they have to worry about??
Until all the guilty parties, black, white, Hispanic, Asian admit they have a severe problem and take the PROPER steps to correct it; it will be the same old record being played over and over. If we have a gangrene infection on the tip of our finger, unless we cut it off we are going to die; what is the smart thing to do??
It is so easy to capitulate and cave into what a person does not believe in just so they can be a passenger on The Ship of Fools. They do not want to be singled out and left on the dock alone.
Let us be honest; it is a lot less painful to cave-in/give-in and NOT be your own person than to take an unpopular stand. What do we have at the end of the day, BUTT spineless cowards and sheep diving off the cliff, playing follow the leader.
Caving-in is the easy way out. For men and women like that, when they get dressed in front of a mirror, they are forced to look at the floor, essentially because they can’t stand what is staring back at them. They are to weak and don’t have to intestinal fortitude to be their own person. They are commonly called COWARDS that wanted to be accepted.
I give JB and others like him a lot of respect that will take an unpopular situation by the horns and do the right thing regardless of public opinion.
That can hold true on the other side of the coin as well, BUTT depending on the subject matter, is where the line should be drawn. In the case of the Kneelers verses the USA, the disrespect they have shown this country that has been so good to them in more ways than one, that is not acceptable.
If any person does not like the food served in the restaurant, what should they do? Get up, leave.
I am still wait for all the fools that were going to leave if Trump was elected. They are all full of shit. They know where their bread is buttered.
If Donald Trump were to become president of the United States of … “If that motherfucker becomes president I …
I can’t help BUTT wonder, if fools like Jackson, the 1/8th Italian De Niro and other fools ever feel like idiots for their off-the-wall stupidity??
Robert Anthony De Niro Jr. was born on August 17, 1943, in the Manhattan borough of New York City, the only child of painters Virginia Admiral and Robert De Niro Sr. He is of Irish and Italian descent on his father’s side, while his mother had Dutch, English, French, and German ancestry.[
I put a lot of the blame on our government for allowing criminals/terrorists/gangs to use the laws written in the constitution/bill of rights to work in their favor.
How can the fools in the robes contend that the burning of the flag is freedom of expression?? It is insane. The Supreme Courts justices are the 1st ones that should take offense against flag burning.
There have been attempts to change the bill of right, BUTT there are always a few anti-American imbeciles in the government that go the other way.
The Flag Desecration Amendment (often referred to as the Flag-burning Amendment) is an American proposed law, in the form of constitutional amendment to the Bill of Rights, that would allow the U.S. Congress to prohibit by statute and provide punishment for the physical “desecration” of the flag of the United States. The concept of flag desecration continues to provoke a heated debate over protecting a national symbol, preserving free speech, and upholding the liberty said to be represented by that national symbol.
While the proposed amendment is frequently referred to colloquially in terms of expression of political views through “flag burning,” the language would permit the prohibition of all forms of flag desecration, which may take forms other than burning, such as using the flag for clothing or napkins.
If they do not want to penalize the anti-Americans for disrespecting and desecration of the flag, they should at least allow the cops to arrest them for setting fires in unauthorized places.
I believe that our government is now feeling the squeeze. First they gave an inch, then a foot, a yard a mile, until they have virtually lost control of trying to enforce the laws of the land. They put the handcuffs on law-enforcers.
Peaceful demonstrations may be a good thing for the people to express their dissatisfaction. BUTT inevitably, some of the peaceful ones turn chaotic.
I watched a journalist at a demonstration AXE one of the hair-brained fools why she was demonstrating. Her reaction was actually comical, she could not answer his question. Finally she said, I am here because all of my friends are. That about sums it up.
Back to JB; my hat is off to the man and other that go against the grain of unpopular subjects, because it is the right thing to do.
Do the Kneelers and their supporters have the right to demonstrate? Absolutely yes, BUTT not on their knees when the National Anthem is being played.
If some of those would-be draft dodgers served in the military, I will bet that 95% of them would look at their actions in a different light. They all want to go to the banquet, BUTT they all go to the head (restroom) when the check comes.
