Cycling tourists were robbed, murdered in Mexico, authorities say
So you wanna go south of the boarder for vacation?? Think twice or maybe 10 times before buying the plane tickets.
The places in Mexico that used to be safe for tourists are now getting like hens teeth, harder and harder to find.
Friends of Holger Franz Hagenbusch and Krzysztof Chmielewski-Podroznik, cyclists who disappeared in the Mexican state of Chiapas, held a rally May 6 in San Cristobal de las Casas.
Two European bicyclists, Krzystof Chmielewski, of Poland, and Holger Hagenbusch, of Germany, were found dead in a ravine in southern Mexico were robbed and murdered, authorities say, despite earlier claims they plunged to their deaths in an accident.
The banditos have no heart or soul. They will slit your throat for a 1.00 and give you 1.10 change.
Violent cartel-related murders continue to spike in the nation, they rose over 25,000 killings in 2017, setting an all time record. 25,000 murders. That is more than the population of some small cities in the USA.

Tourism Revenues in Mexico averaged 735, 240.79 USD Thousand from 1980 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 2362, 556.54 USD Thousand in March of 2018 and a record low of 158,919 USD Thousand in October of 1985.
Those are some big numbers, so naturally; the Mexican government is going to try to keep the crime rate under wraps to keep the tourist coming back.
Everyone always says; it only happens to everyone else; that is until they are the someone else. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure – don’t go where you don’t belong.
One of the biggest concerns I would have, if I had a kids that wanted to go to Mexico for spring break. They are literally asking for big problems. I would absolutely refuse to let them go.
You like it where its hot and love Mexican food?? Go to Taco Bell, buy a burrito, go to the local tanning salon, lay down and have lunch. It is a lot cheaper and a whole lot safer; maybe.
