Cycling tourists were robbed, murdered in Mexico, authorities say

The places in Mexico that used to be safe for tourists are now getting like hens teeth, harder and harder to find.
Friends of Holger Franz Hagenbusch and Krzysztof Chmielewski-Podroznik, cyclists who disappeared in the Mexican state of Chiapas, held a rally May 6 in San Cristobal de las Casas.
Two European bicyclists, Krzystof Chmielewski, of Poland, and Holger Hagenbusch, of Germany, were found dead in a ravine in southern Mexico were robbed and murdered, authorities say, despite earlier claims they plunged to their deaths in an accident.

This is Mexico’s worst fear; these crimes impacting the tourists trade they depend on so heavily.

Those are some big numbers, so naturally; the Mexican government is going to try to keep the crime rate under wraps to keep the tourist coming back.
Everyone always says; it only happens to everyone else; that is until they are the someone else. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure – don’t go where you don’t belong.
One of the biggest concerns I would have, if I had a kids that wanted to go to Mexico for spring break. They are literally asking for big problems. I would absolutely refuse to let them go.
You like it where its hot and love Mexican food?? Go to Taco Bell, buy a burrito, go to the local tanning salon, lay down and have lunch. It is a lot cheaper and a whole lot safer; maybe.
