General said he would push-back if PDT ordered an illegal nuclear air strike
Gen. John Hyten, who is the commander of US Strategic Command, shared what would happen if he were ordered to launch a nuclear strike.
“I provide advice to the President,” Hyten said. “He’ll tell me what to do, and if it’s illegal, guess what’s going to happen? I’m gonna say, ‘Mr. President, that’s illegal.’ Guess what he’s going to do? He’s going to say, ‘What would be legal?’ And we’ll come up with options of a mix of capabilities to respond to whatever the situation is, and that’s the way it works. It’s not that complicated.”
The way I see it, that is a good thing. With something as FINAL as dropping the nuclear bomb on any country, there needs to be checks and balances. One single person should NOT have the final say so. Once the Red Button is pushed, there is no going back.

It goes without saying; anyone at anytime can flip their lid and go haywire. It is imperative that there is more than one person watching the store.
Every good leader, whether in business or politics has to respect the people under them and follow their advice or why have them in the position. That is why they are called advisors. Any person of authority who tries to run an organization with blinders on is a fool.
As the old Italian saying goes; indossare le scarpe se si adattano.
