Sessions takes aim at ‘dangerous’ sanctuary cities, warns on funding
Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired a broadside at so-called “sanctuary cities” Monday, telling reporters local policies of noncooperation with immigration authorities are “dangerous” and will cost communities federal funding.
What, another joke?
When I was a kid, my old man only had to say something once; there was no secret as to what he meant and what the consequences were if we did not listen the first time.
The USA has just gone through 8 years of; I AM WARNING YOU, YOU BETTER, IF YOU DON’T, not only in this country but around the world. I would hate to see the Trump administration follow suit. So far it looks like a close race.
One directive is enough and possibly a second reminder but after that, it is all lip service. The perpetrators know they are empty threats and are laughing their asses off.
PDT has already laid down the gauntlet and stated: if the sanctuary cities do not dismantle he is going to take federal funding away from them. WELL, how many times is he going to have to repeat himself before he takes action?
I hope for the credibility of this administration, PDT does not set a pattern of making idle threats and does follow through with those that do not comply. It makes for a weak administration.
The way it should go down is: PDT sends a directive to all parties concerned. As of June 1 2017; if all of the offending cities that control sanctuary cities do not comply with federal orders and cease to exist, on June 2 2017 all of their federal funding will be cut off. End of story.
The time of meaningless threats has long passed; that applies to all phases of government activities. Without following through, PDT’s administration will become just another joke in our history books.
It is time to; do what you say and say what you mean or quit talking about it. It is not going to hurt his dwindling popularity one way or another. It may even help.
