I see that I see that our Comrades across the pond have a few more marbles in their heads then the American Medical Community does.
As of today, they outlawed smoking for anyone under 18 years old. It is a very smart move, something the Americans do not want to touch with 16 Vodka bottles.
If smoking continues at the current rate among youth in this country, 5.6 million of today’s Americans younger than 18 will die early from a smoking-related illness. That’s about 1 of every 13 Americans aged 17 years or younger alive today.
That is a big chunk of money coming from the youth of America trying their best to fit in with their peers. It is all about money folks.
There is too much $oldi being made by the tobacco companies in this country for them to even consider following suit with the Russians.
The cancer-related deaths rate in Russia due to smoking is about 400,000 people a year. That is an astronomical amount of deaths related due to smoking. It is like the entire population of a dozen small towns being wiped out.
These are preventable deaths but the government does not care. It only proves that the big bucks, especially in the USA comes before the health and welfare of its citizens. Being that smoking is so bad, outlaw cigarettes altogether.
Optimistically, the USA may get the hint (but I doubt it) and copy our Russian comrades on how to assist the weaklings into quitting smoking. Sad to say, there are too many owners of tobacco companies making trillions of dollar on cancer sticks for that to ever happen in this country.
Just to put things in perspective; the tobacco companies spent a total 8.94 BBBBBillion dollars just on advertising. How much does any industry have to make to spend that kind of money on advertising?
The tobacco industry is not the only entity that is going to the bank with box-cars loaded with money. Our illustrious government is also making a hefty profit on the taxes from cigarette sales.
I was in the store today; the guy in front of me bought a carton of cancer sticks and paid over $80.00. If the cancer sticks were $5.00 a carton, then I may see the logic in smoking, maybe. To pay that kind of money, to slowly kill ones-self makes absolutely no sense at all.
I hope the Ruskies are successful with their war on underage kids using tobacco. It appears they have more sense than we do.
