Stephen Hawking says we’ve got about 1,000 years to find a new place to live
If you have any pressing issues that need immediate attention, you better hurry and get them done. The clock is ticking.
According to one of the most knowledgeable people on the planet, mankind has between 1,000 – 10,000 years before Mother Earth goes ka-put.
But Steve buddy; you have to come up with a more precise estimate of how long we have on the earth. 1,000 – 10,000, you have to tighten that timetable up a little. I may have some last-minute shopping before the holidays.
I really do respect the intestinal fortitude and intelligence of Mr. Hawking. Against all odds, he has managed to survive and continue with his life work despite his disabilities.
At 21 years old Steven came down with an incurable disease called Lou Gehrig’s disease that affects a person motor skills. Not letting his disease control him, Mr. Hawking had a specially built computer made he communicates with. The man is remarkable.
There was a movie made about Mr. Hawking’s life that is a must see. He is living proof of what any person can do with the determination and will to live.

As we can see by his resume his disability did not hinder him from becoming one of the most brilliant people on the planet.
I am somewhat ambivalent in my agreement with him that some day mankind will other planets. There are just too many complications.
Can there be small groups of people who get a one-way ticket to outer space and do successfully set up life on other planets?? Possibly. But they will never know life there as we have it on Mother Earth. Just getting to other planets with all of the necessities we need in sustain life is almost an impossibility.
We are not talking about packing the family in a car and going for a months trip to another state. We are talking about essentially transporting millions of people from earth to other planets.
Aside from the astronomical expenses involved, the closest planet to earth that MAYBE inhabitable is called Wolf 1061 that is 14 light years away from earth.
I don’t want to step on Steve’s toes but I did a little research of my own.
The fastest spacecraft mankind has developed so far travels at around 36,373 mph. One light-year is 5.87849981×1012 5.87849981 × 10 12 miles. (That’s 5,878,499,810,000 miles, or nearly 6 trillion miles).
It would take 18,449 years to travel one light-year. A Multiply that times 14 light years away years. My calculator just blew up.
Mr. Hawking may be correct that Mother Earth only has, at the max 10,000 years to go before it falls into oblivion. That being the earth (the rock – the mass), not the people living on it.
If we do not get our houses in order, it will be a hell of a lot sooner before the bottom drops out from under mankind. There are just too many factors that exist where we are really trying our best to obliterate ourselves.
Drugs – booze – wars – terrorism – corrupt politicians – diseases – insane leaders of groups/countries determined to destroy civilization. The list is endless.
It all boils down to; greed – control – money – ideologies and power. To all those FOOLS; there is enough to go around to make everyone happy. Live and let live.
Mankind itself controls its own destiny. If we do not put our noses to the grindstone and get a handle on the problems that plague us, sad to say we will not make it another 100 years let alone 1,000 – 10,000 years.
Not many people are realistic enough to admit or realize, mankind is in a self-destruct mode and is traveling at a very high rate of speed. If this runaway freight train is not stopped or put under control, there WILL be a monumental crash.
When we stop and analyze our pathetic situations; only idiotic fools would try so hard to destroy themselves.
Wake up and smell the napalm folks before it is too late. The clock is ticking.
