Mariners suspend catcher for tweets on Black Lives Matter, police shootings
I guess we have all degrees of standards in the country, depending on how much soldi someone has – who their daddy is -and what color their skin is. Those factors should never be a consideration. There should be one standard that has to be rock solid, that is freedom of speech – freedom of opinion and in this case freedom of texting.
Seattle Mariners put catcher Steve Clevenger on the bench for the rest of the season WOP (without pay) because he tweeting disparaging remarks about Black Lives Matter protesters and the controversy over police shootings.
“Black people beating whites when a thug got shot holding a gun by a black officer haha (expletive) cracks me up! Keep kneeling for the Anthem!” one of Clevenger’s tweets read.
“BLM is pathetic once again! Obama you are pathetic once again! Everyone involved should be locked behind bars like animals!” another tweet read.
Were his remarks a little rough? Maybe; the fact still remains those were his opinions. Clevenger should be entitled to his opinion just like Kaperdick is entitled to taking a knee.
Kaperdick started an epidemic; Clevenger just made a few comments. Quadruple standards.
Possibly if Clevenger was a black guy making the same remarks about some white organization it would be OK.
What should be considered worse; making some comments about a race or disrespecting the entire country?? I will take door #2.
This PC pathetic kid glove routine the country has fallen into when commenting on the black community (among many other things) has gone to extremes. Most people walk on egg shells when expressing their opinion about the blacks because they will be chastised and considered racists. But, it has been readily accepted that the blacks can say whatever they want about the white race and all is well on the western front.
There is one element about racism that the majority of people do not want to admit. The black community are absolutely more racist to the whites than the other way around.
Do they have a right to be deeply concerned because of the unnecessary shooting (sometime resulting in death) from cops that are either gun happy, poorly trained or incompetent?? Absolutely yes.
BUT – THE BIG BUT; if they could get their crime rate down substantially, in many cases there would be no reason for the cops to have inner actions with them.
FACT: Black People (mostly men) commit a grossly disproportionate amount of crime.
In 2012, white males were 38 percent of the population and committed 4,582 murders. That same year, black males were just 6.6 percent of the population but committed a staggering 5,531 murders. I am sure that these numbers have increased substantially since 2012.
Black Live Matter most probably started out with good intentions but evolved into a blood thirsty, rebel-rousing organization.
Black Activists Call for Lynching and Hanging of White People and Cops
I would love to see ANY white origination publicly call for the killing of black people. There would be an uprising in this country like never before. Quadruple standards.
I contend that there are people on both sides of the racial isle that do not want peace. It would take money out of their pockets.
We are all citizens of the USA, human beings and should be treated equally by all under the law and for the sake of human decency. No preferential treatment should be given to anyone because of what color their skin is, what their celeb status is, what is in their bank account or where their grandpaw came from. Quadruple standards.
I say Clevenger should sue the MLB and I hope he wins the case. Was he 100% right in his comments? Probably not but that is his opinion and that should be considered freedom of texting.
The Pledge of Allegiance was written 1892 by the socialist minister Francis Bellamy.
This is what he wrote: “I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
It doesn’t say anything about race or financial status.
