It even surprised Gomer Pile that our government/Obama administration would pay sanctuary cities around the country to break the law. This is nothing new. It has been in practice for many years but in the last few years has totally spiraled out of control.
More than $3.4 billion in funding has been given to states and cities in the past five years, Texas Rep. John Culberson said in a statement announcing the Justice Department’s updated guidance.
It is hard for me to comprehend that the people that are paid big money to protect ALL Americans chose to support, shelter and hide people who are illegally in this country and many of them are consistently breaking the law.
What is a sanctuary city you ask??? This is what Wikipedia says:
Certain cities in the United States began designating themselves as sanctuary cities during the 1980s. The policy was first initiated in 1979 in Los Angeles, to prevent police from inquiring about the immigration status of arrestees. The internal policy, “Special Order 40“, states: “Officers shall not initiate police action with the objective of discovering the alien status of a person. Officers shall not arrest nor book persons for violation of title 8, section 1325 of the United States Immigration code (Illegal Entry).” Some of the 31 American cities are Washington, D.C.; New York City (see also undocumented immigration in New York City); Jersey City; Los Angeles; Philadelphia; San Francisco; Santa Ana; San Jose; Oakland; Salt Lake City; Dallas; Houston; Detroit; Chicago; Salinas, California; Minneapolis; Miami; Denver; Baltimore; Seattle; Portland, Oregon; New Haven; Somerville; Cambridge; and Portland, Maine.[dead link] These cities have adopted “sanctuary” ordinances banning city employees and police officers from asking people about their immigration status.
Quoting John Stossel; Give me a %^&*^$% break!!!!
It seems to me, if I were on the run from somewhere, one of the cities would be the ideal place to hide out.
What does the term illegal aliens mean you may ask???
Rules and laws serve many purposes necessary for a thriving society, including the punishment of wrongdoers, the resolution of disputes, the promotion of the common good and moral habituation. The fact that every organized social institution, including families, schools and countries, have recognized rules shows humans’ dependence on established codes of conduct.
I may have missed something in that paragraph. Where does it state to shelter – hide and protect criminals? Where does it state that certain government officials, with the wave of their magic wand arbitrarily alter the laws as they seem fit?
