Yesterday to beat the heat I went to a local swimming pool to cool off. The pool was mobbed with other hot bodies trying to get their temperature down.
I was having a very enjoyable time until I looked up and saw a small drone flying overhead about 30′ from the pool. I have say; it is a very uncomfortable feeling watching that thing hover over my head and the rest of the swimmers. How the hell did I know if it was a toy or some nut case had a bomb strapped to it? Not possible huh!!!!
I am not a crape hanger or a pain in the ass but I am very vigilant, especially with what is going on these days. If people can get killed going to a movie theater by some wack job, it is not impossible that some other sicko or terrorists will strap a bomb or some other destructive device to one of these toy flying machines and drop it into a group of people just for laughs.
What is going to happen eventually as these incidents become more frequent, people are going to be reluctant to go to places of entertainment. The risk is not worth it. Where do you think this sick bastard got his idea to go on a shooting spree in a movie theater?
There are measures that can be taken to prevent some but not all of these tragedies from happening but people have to be proactive. Don’t go where you don’t belong and use your gut instincts. If it doesn’t feel right, get your hat.
I have done 3 or 4 posts on the potential dangers on the use of drones for hobbies, business or entertainment purposes. One good example is the drone that landed on the Prime Minister’s home in Japan. Luckily it only contained traces of radioactive material. Could have just as easily been a bomb.
If some drone aficionado wants to fly their toys around the friendly skies, they should be restricted to open fields like the model airplanes flyers used.
Absolutely no drones should be allowed to fly over public places except for police and military use.
What is it going to take but a tragic incident before the government officials open their eye to recognize the danger of these potentially dangerous flying machines.
I like to say a word to the wise is…. but that is not always the case.
The day is coming.
