Half the world’s wildlife gone over last 40 years:
So goes wild life and the planet, so goes the human race.
Mankind is literally self-destructing. Not only with all of the wars that have popped up around the globe by all of the nut case organizations attempting to take control of the world but there has been a consistent abuse of the echo systems, natural resources and the destruction of wildlife for generations.
All of these issues combined have taken a very significant toll that most people are trying to ignore. The old head in the sand trick; if we stick or heads in the sand it may go away.
Over fishing, killing exotic animals for their horns so some nymphomaniacs get an extra boost, hunting for “the thrill of the kill” and not out of necessity.
What kind of savage would hunt down and slaughter these beautiful creatures for their horns or as a trophy? When they are caught, they should receive the same treatment they gave the animals.
The governments where these atrocities against the animals are taking place are not doing enough to curtail the slaughters. Too many envelopes changing hands.
There was a study released yesterday by the Living Planet that shows; the number of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish across the globe is, on average, about half the size it was 40 years ago. The world has lost 52 percent of its biodiversity since 1970, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) announced in a study released today on the state of our planet. This is gigantic.
Jon Hoekstra, chief scientist at WWF, broke it down another way: “39 percent of terrestrial wildlife gone, 39 percent of marine wildlife gone, and 76 percent of freshwater wildlife gone — all in the past 40 years.”
In short, the world is either abusing or over using its wild life and natural resources in such a manner that it will not take too many years for this condition will bite mankind in the ass. It is nipping at us already.
There continues to be a lot of conversation of conservation and protecting the planet but until now it has all been lip service; always kicked to the curb by the “need for greed.”
The organizations that head these initiatives are as bad as NATO. Just a bunch of long winded conversationalists making a big buck and sitting on their hands.
There has to be the COMPLETE co-operation of all the governments in the world as a unified effort to get these dire situations under control but no one wants to capitulate. It all boils down to power and money.
Carter Roberts, president and CEO of WWF, warned, “We’re gradually destroying our planet’s ability to support our way of life. But we already have the knowledge and tools to avoid the worst predictions. We all live on a finite planet and its time we started acting within those limits.” No one is listening to Roberts or the rest of the experts.
It took Mother Nature millions of years to develop this planet and only a couple of decades for the human animals to destroy it. That is certainly not something to be proud of.
It is a typical characteristic of the human race; abuse the hell out of the system and let the next guy fix it.
