Take a few hits on your “Peace Pipe” Chiefs and relax

A three-judge panel at the Patent & Trademark Office ruled 2-1 that the name wasn’t worthy of federal trademark protection. The decision could escalate the campaign against a brand that the NFL and team owner Daniel M. Snyder have vigorously defended against increasingly strident criticism and is not going to take their decision laying down.

For the courts to side with some Indian dissidents who take offense having a sports team named after them is ridiculous.

With all of the pressing issues facing the over-loaded court systems I would think they have more important things to do then to worry about appeasing a few offended Indians that are toking  “wacky tabbacci” in their peace pipes.

awsr

The old cliché is; if something or someone imitated you it was supposed to be a form of flattery. I am sure that this is the intent of the teams and not meant to be an insult.

Based on all of the problems facing the Indian nation has these days the last thing they should be concerned with is sports teams named after them. The Washington Redskins and the Cleveland Indians like a multitude of others have been around for generations and their teams being named after Indians should be considered adulation.

I didn’t realize that the list was so extensive.

Put this in your “peace pipe” and smoke it. If the court systems really are going to make a clean sweep of all the teams that are named after Indian tribes they have a lot of work ahead of them.

The following is a list of MOST of the teams that are named in some-way after Indian tribes.
